OCR Unit 3 - The Christmas Challenge
Christmas is here - or so the shops now tell us!
Here is your challenge. This is to be done in selected lessons and for homework up to christmas. The results should be posted on your individual blogs for feedback.
In my role as Director of Studies for Y7, we are organising a Christmas activity
Can YOU produce a set of graphics for the Year 7 Christmas Disco? It will happen on Weds 16th December.
We need
(a) A great logo for the event
(b) Graphics for the poster and tickets
(b) edited graphics like the above with Y7 teachers in disguise for competitions (you need to research who the Y7 teachers are - but you can start with me if you like!). It would also be great if you could put teachers in mountain snow and on reindeer - that kind of thing...
(d) A Year 7 Christmas Card
Use bitmap and vector graphic techniques already learned - you may work in pairs or trios in lessons
Thanks

The Coca Cola Challenge
Imagine...you have been asked by a brand new company called Coca Cola to produce graphics to advertise their company
You produce a logo, a box graphic and graphics for a poster
Now, how do you present these graphics to the company?
- Do you use a PowerPoint or a Web Page?
- What size should the graphics you are presenting be?
- What resolution is needed? What file type do the graphics need to be?
- Should they be presented in grayscale or full colour?

Some more good examples
Here are some more examples of graphics artwork
The first is a vector copy of a real photo - easily achieved in Fireworks or Photoshop, by "tracing" over the original and then deleting the original
Try it yourself!

The second is an edited bitmap image.
The trick here is to use blend and colour picking tools to make the edit as close to the original as possible.
Again, try this for yourselves.

OCR Graphics - the fun stuff!
Hello everyone!
This is a blog I have created to show/share some graphics ideas with you
The first challenge set is to find examples of graphics that have been modified in some way
(1) In a way that makes something seem unbelievable (eg. shark on top of Eiffel Tower)
(2) In a way that is used to enhance (e.g. magazine airbrushing a spot off a models face)
Create your own blog to store images and post your comments here
